Free or premium: how access to the stories works

On Voctale some stories are free to listen to, others are part of the premium offer. The difference is not hidden and does not catch you halfway through: you know from the start which group a title belongs to. This guide explains how to tell them apart, what stays available at all times and what premium access opens up, so you can choose knowing where you stand.

Free and premium stories: how to tell them apart

In the catalogue you will find two kinds of stories. Some are free and you listen to them in full with nothing else; others are premium and need an active access. Each title's page shows which group it belongs to, and you see it before you start: you will not reach the middle and discover you cannot go on.

Free stories are not cut-down versions or samples: they are complete stories, from the first minute to the last. There are linear and interactive ones, short and long, and they span different genres you can browse by genre. They are the best way to understand how an interactive story or a linear audiobook sounds before deciding whether the rest of the catalogue is for you.

What stays available at all times

What you listen to stays tied to your account, not to a single session. Free stories stay available with no limit: you can add them to your library, pick them up where you left off and replay them whenever you like, today or in six months. Your progress follows the account even if you change phone or move from the app to the browser.

Your bookmarks, the choices made in interactive stories and the lists you have created all stay in place. If you gather the titles you like into a reading list, you find it unchanged at every visit, and you can share it without the other person necessarily needing premium to see what it is about.

What premium access opens up

With premium access the rest of the catalogue opens up. It covers every premium story while your access is active, with no need to unlock them one by one. It is meant for someone who already knows what kind of listening they are after and wants it all within reach, including the releases that are added over time.

Your progress stays saved even if a story changes status: whatever you already have in your library is not lost. If you are not sure where to start, begin with the free stories and use them as a real trial; once you find the kind of story you come back to, you know what it is worth going premium for. And if you then want to create a story yourself, free or premium, you will find the steps in the guide on publishing your first story.
